Bees on the lavendar

Outside my house Mum has planted some lavender.  Many bees come to and fro.

Lashford Lane Fen, a small BBOWT nature reserve

I persuaded Mum to let me visit Lashford Lane Fen one evening when we were passing by.  It was definitely worth it!  Some kind people had found a baby grass snake and brought it to show me.  I got to hold it and Mum took a good picture.  We also got a glimpse of a slow worm but not a photo unfortunately as it slithered away before I could get my camera out.

A first visit to Otmoor RSPB reserve

At Otmoor I enjoyed seeing little egrets, hobbies, herons, snipe, lapwing, reed bunting, a lesser spotted woodpecker and turtle dove!!!  We met some enthusiasts that were very helpful and showed us some of these birds.

Radley Lakes

One summer evening I went down to Radley Lakes to photograph wildlife.  I entered my best shots into the Radley Village fete photography competition.  With one of my shots I got first place.

Frog under the log

One day I rolled over a log to see what insects I could find and I found a young common frog.

Sparrow Hawk in my garden!

I was amazed to look out and see a sparrow hawk eating a pigeon in my garden.  It was a gory sight!  It hid the carcass in our log pile and kept on coming back for more.

Camera

Camera.
For my birthday I got a new camera, it is a Pentax X-5.  I also got a tripod. To test them out I went to the Wetland Trust in London.  It was great! First we went to the otters, they were being fed.
